We are very happy to be able to announce our latest release, an album 10 years in the making, the sequel to our tribute to The Sound / Adrian Borland, an incredible band and musician that deserves way more attention. The sequel is long overdue and comes with some mixed emotions as Adrian Borland is no longer around to see that there is still much interest in his music. So the time for this is now!
“There Must Be A Hole In Your Memory – A Tribute To The Sound & Adrian Borland – Volume 2” : Listening to the song “Deep Deep Blue” it sends shivers through you when Adrian says “I thought we had time on our side, it hurts to know we’ve run out of road tonight” and you realize just how fitting the title of that song has become when we ponder the tragic loss of Adrian Borland at the young age of 41. We can only imagine what he was going through on the roller coaster of life, but we certainly appreciate and are very grateful for the many treasures he left us, in his beautiful songs. This tribute is our small way to say thanks and maybe expose a few more people to his incredible body of work, as they go back and discover the originals. It also saddens me to know that the singer of the cover version on this CD, Michael Harding (The Only Michael, 1000 Mexicans) has also passed away (passed away in 2021.) or ‘run out of road’ and so we dedicate this album to Adrian Borland and Michael Harding. The words in “Total Recall” when Adrian sings “it’s all such a blur when time goes so quickly” really struck and I realize it has been way too long since our last Adrian Borland/ The Sound tribute, which came out in 2014, and so we really focused on completing this sequel and we hope that it brings some enjoyment to the listeners and the fans.
It has liner notes by several of Adrian’s friends like Jack Rabid (The Big Takeover magazine), David Long from the band Into Paradise, Phil King (who has probably played in more bands than you can count) and Owen Jones from The Jazz Butcher. There are 18 amazing covers, including a few by musicians that Adrian had worked with in the past and many others who were inspired by him.
